Father-son duo Brett and Cameron Fannon on ‘Tasty Fish’ have one hand on the Australian Skate Championship Cup after another victory in Heat 5, sailed in trying conditions of 13 to 21 knots with three boats failing to finish the race.

Second place went to Ken Davies and Lachlan Schroder on ‘Natural Juices 2’ with Mick Winney and Emma Sills on ‘Take It Easy’ claiming third place.

Defending champion and second placed David Luck’s chances of winning were dealt a major blow when he finished in fifth position after tipping.

Thursday will see Heat 6 sailed in moderate breezes with a victory to Fannon seeing him secure the championship, while Luck will need a victory to keep his chances of defending his title alive.

The battle for the minor places has also heated up and sailors will need to take advantage of the moderate winds on Thursday as Friday as it is looking like another very breezy day.
