The best South Australian Multihulls will do battle later this month in the APC King of the Gulf regatta on the fantastic flat sailing waters of Port Vincent, which will incorporate the South Australian Multihull Championships.

The top-of-the-table battle is expected to be between the president of the Multihull Yacht Association of SA and 2016 National Multihull Champion, Iain MacDougall, on Goldfinger (Farrier F9) and Australian multihull legend Robert “The Professor” Remilton from the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club, who is the current 2017 National Champion on Wilparina 3.

Remilton has just taken delivery of the new sensational trimaran rocket, a DIAM 24. This award-winning French designed and built trimaran is the 2017 Sailboat Magazine “Sailboat of the Year” winner in both the overall and multihull divisions.

The King of the Gulf will be the first regatta both the “Pres” and the “Prof” will contest head-to-head with bragging rights and significant pride at stake.

The Farrier F9 is an older design but is very well sailed by MacDougall and his crew. Meanwhile, Wilparina 3 drew first blood in the the recent Milang-Goolwa race so many local and national sailors are waiting the outcome of this battle with baited breath.
