South Australia’s Westminster School has slipped into second place at the Pacific Rim Teams Racing Championships in Algies Bay, New Zealand after a great day’s racing on day two yesterday.

With patches of blue sky and a consistent 5 to 10-knot breeze blowing, all the Aussie teams in both the Open and Ladies fleets were able to get comfortable with the 420 class, which is used for teams racing in New Zealand compared to the Pacer class used in Australia.

In the open fleet, Westminister won the day with strong wins against the tough Kristen School and Wentworth College from Auckland to be undefeated in the third round-robin.Friends School Blue from Tasmania had a good day as well winning three races, while Friends White struggled to find their form and were unable to win a race.

Overall rankings now see Kristen with a one-point lead ahead of Westminister while Friends Blue and Friends White are in fifth and sixth respectively.

In the Ladies fleet, Ascham School from Sydney took home four wins beating the Cook Island Girls Team, as well as their fellow country team mates Canberra Girls Grammar and the current regatta leaders from New Zealand, New Plymouth Girls High.

New Plymouth are leading the Ladies fleet with Ascham in fourth and Canberra Girls Grammar in fifth.
